Does the community have the markets and shops you use or is it close to
the shopping you want or need? Does it offer the medical, dental
services or hospitals?
How about the auto services, gas stations and other services you may need for your cars, or the parks for the kids to play in?
Are they clean and well maintained by the city. Are there specialty
services or shops you need like pet grooming, nail salons, hair salons,
barber shops, etc.?
What about churches in the area?
Are there theatres, and other entertainment options?
What about City Services you are going to be paying for?
How far is it to the local Social Security offices, or other government offices you might need?
There are other questions about the community and home area that you
should write down on a list and keep it up to date as you think of more
questions to ask. All of these are important questions to be asking
about any area or community that you plan to move to.
A FAMILY’S MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION:
What about the most important thing that a family should be concerned with like the local schools, and education system?
What school district is the house in?
Does it have a good reputation?
Is there an oversight committee and are there homeowners on that committee?
What is spent on schools by the community and specifically on each student?
How are the students scoring in academic?
What are the other achievements within the local school district?
Do the parks offer educational programs and activities for kids?
Do the schools have sports activities and recreational facilities?
Is there a library available in the community, or better yet, one at the school?
Many important questions about schools should be written down.
GENERAL REAL ESTATE AND COMMUNITY QUESTIONS:
After you drive through all of the residential areas, are they presentable and maintained?
What about re-sale values in each area?
Are the homeowners confident that their homes value can continue to grow in the future?
What are the overall plans for the community to progress in the near and far future?
Are there plans to re-develop or change zoning patterns in the area where you’re looking?
Are there any new housing developments being planned where the city
might use imminent domain or new annexation laws, or in any way affect
the value of the house or neighborhood where you are looking?
Are all of the homes well kept, clean and maintained, with landscaping that is green and maintained?
Are the streets and avenues well maintained and clean?
These kinds of questions should be looked into.
